Father Andrew Vogel

International Adoptee

My name is Father Andrew Vogel. My history starts when I was about one. I was found on the doorstep of the police station in Mokpo, South Korea. I was adopted in the spring of 1977. Eventually there were five of us kids, 2 born to my parents and three of us who were adopted. I grew up in Ames, Iowa. I went to Iowa State University and majored in Computer Engineering. I worked for five years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN doing computer work for the Radiation Oncology Department. In the fall of 2004 I left my job and entered seminary. During seminary I received a lot of healing for abandonment. Not because my parents did anything wrong, but because a lot of lies about self-worth entered my heart as I was left on the doorstep of the police station. In 2010 I was ordained a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Winona-Rochester. I now serve two rural parishes in Southeast Minnesota.
