Foster Care Alum, Hope + Vine Mentor

Mia Murphy has been part of Hope + Vine since 2021, when she first joined our team as an artisan. Now, she is stepping into a new role as Hope + Vine’s very first intern while pursuing her degree in Social Work at North Carolina Central University.

Mia knows firsthand what it means to age out of foster care. At RE:, she will share her story and help us understand what she needed as a teenager in the foster system—needs she felt deeply but didn’t yet have the words or understanding to articulate.

Through her story, Mia will invite us to look beyond behaviors and circumstances to see the deeper needs of young people in foster care and consider how we can better walk alongside them.

Mia is also a proud mom to her four-year-old daughter, Malia, and we are honored to have her share her story with the RE: community.
